In Van Lang district, Lang Son province, Mrs. Hoang Thi Tieu's life has long been a story of resilience.
With her children working far away, she bears the weight of her household alone, tending to the fields and raising her two young grandchildren. Each day was a struggle, especially when it came to cooking over a traditional wood stove, a task that drained her strength and energy.
The hours she spent collecting firewood had taken a toll on her aging body. Weakened by time, there were days when the firewood she managed to gather barely lasted three days. On harder days, when her supply ran low, she found herself borrowing from kind neighbors just to get by.
But everything changed when Mrs. Tieu received an improved stove.
The new stove has been a lifeline, significantly cutting down the amount of firewood needed and reducing the harmful smoke that once filled her home. More importantly, it has given her back something precious: time.
This small but transformative change has brought a new sense of ease to Mrs. Tieu’s daily routine, allowing her to focus on what matters most—her family.
"Since having the new stove, I have had a lot less trouble. I save firewood, and I have more time to pick corn and take care of my grandchildren." - Hoang Thi Tieu
