Public announcement on Grouped projects for Improved cookstove for climate and community action (VCS project ID 2548)

The Grouped Projects for Improved Cookstove for Climate and Community Action (VCS Project ID 2548) is a large-scale initiative aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while improving health and living conditions through the use of efficient household cooking technologies in Viet Nam.

Under this project, carbon credits may be issued through the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) for the verified emission reductions and removals generated by the adoption of TK90 and Ecozen cookstoves. These stoves are manufactured by Viet Charcoal Production Company Limited, based in Di Su Commune, My Hao District, Hung Yen Province, Viet Nam, and are distributed by the Sustainability Investment Promotion and Development Joint Stock Company (SIPCO).

The TK90 and Ecozen stoves are designed to improve cooking efficiency, significantly reducing the need for non-renewable biomass such as firewood and charcoal. This shift lowers carbon emissions, helps conserve local forests, and minimizes indoor air pollution—one of the leading health risks for families relying on traditional cooking methods.

In addition to environmental benefits, the project creates meaningful social and economic impacts. Households using improved cookstoves enjoy cleaner kitchens, reduced smoke exposure, and lower fuel costs. At the same time, the program supports local manufacturing, distribution, and awareness-raising efforts, contributing to sustainable community development and livelihood opportunities.
