Public announcement on Grouped Projects for Mekong River Delta Water Purifier (VCS project ID 2581)

The Grouped Projects for Mekong River Delta Water Purifier (VCS Project ID 2581) is a pioneering initiative that addresses both climate change and community health needs by expanding access to safe drinking water in the Mekong River Delta region of Viet Nam.

Under this project, carbon credits may be issued through the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) for the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions and removals linked to the use of Ecozen-25 water purifiers. These devices are produced by Viet Charcoal Production Company Limited, located in Di Su Commune, My Hao District, Hung Yen Province, Viet Nam, and are distributed by the Sustainability Investment Promotion and Development Joint Stock Company (SIPCO).

The Ecozen-25 technology reduces the need to boil water using wood, charcoal, or other traditional fuels. By cutting down reliance on these carbon-intensive practices, the project helps lower GHG emissions, decrease deforestation pressures, and improve indoor air quality.

Beyond climate benefits, the project provides vital community impacts. Families and schools in the Mekong River Delta gain reliable access to clean drinking water, reducing risks of waterborne illness and improving overall well-being. By reducing fuelwood dependence, the initiative also eases the burden on households—saving both time and resources—and contributes to healthier and more sustainable living conditions.
