Public announcement on Grouped Projects for Safe Drinking Water for Schools in Viet Nam (VCS project ID 3599)

The Grouped Projects for Safe Drinking Water for Schools in Viet Nam (VCS Project ID 3599) is a climate and community initiative that contributes to measurable greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions while improving access to clean drinking water for students and teachers.

At the core of the project are Ecozen-25 water purifiers, an innovative technology manufactured by Viet Charcoal Production Company Limited, based in Di Su commune, My Hao District, Hung Yen province, Viet Nam. These devices are designed to provide safe drinking water without the need for constant reliance on traditional fuel sources, thereby reducing both household energy use and associated emissions.

The project is implemented and distributed by the Sustainability Investment Promotion and Development Joint Stock Company (SIPCO), a company dedicated to sustainable development solutions. By replacing conventional methods of water purification, often involving the burning of non-renewable biomass or other carbon-intensive fuels, the Ecozen-25 units significantly lower the carbon footprint of participating schools.

Beyond emission reductions, the project also brings important social and health benefits. Students and teachers gain consistent access to clean, safe drinking water, which supports better health outcomes, reduces absenteeism due to waterborne diseases, and improves the overall learning environment.

This initiative highlights how targeted technological solutions can simultaneously address climate change, protect public health, and strengthen community resilience. It reflects Viet Nam’s growing leadership in integrating sustainable practices into education and development.
