Public announcement on Grouped Projects for Vietnam Energy Efficiency Program (VCS project ID 3244)

The Grouped Projects for Viet Nam Energy Efficiency Program (VCS Project ID 3244) is a large-scale initiative designed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through the promotion of advanced lighting technologies across the country.

Under this program, carbon credits may be issued through the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) for the emission reductions associated with the widespread adoption of LED lighting systems. These energy-efficient products are manufactured by SMK Vietnam Joint Stock Company, located in Ha Dinh Quarter, Thanh Xuan Trung Ward, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi City, and by Rang Dong Light Source & Vacuum Flask JSC, based in Thuan Thanh 3 Industrial Area, Thanh Khuong Commune, Thuan Thanh District, Bac Ninh Province.

The implementation and distribution are managed by the Sustainability Investment Promotion and Development Joint Stock Company (SIPCO). By replacing traditional incandescent light bulbs with high-efficiency LEDs, the project significantly reduces electricity consumption and lowers associated carbon emissions. This transition supports Viet Nam’s energy efficiency goals and contributes to mitigating the impacts of climate change.

Beyond the climate benefits, the program also delivers meaningful social and economic impacts. Households and institutions benefit from reduced electricity costs, better lighting quality, and improved living and working conditions. The initiative also supports domestic manufacturers and contributes to sustainable economic growth within Viet Nam.
