Public announcement on Grouped projects for water purifiers for climate and community action – Phase 2 (VCS project ID 3835)

The Grouped Projects for Water Purifiers for Climate and Community Action – Phase 2 (VCS Project ID 3835) represents the next step in advancing sustainable solutions that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while delivering essential health and community benefits in Viet Nam.

Under this project, carbon credits may be issued through the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) for verified emission reductions and removals linked to the distribution of Ecozen-25 water purifiers. These devices are produced by Viet Charcoal Production Company Limited, headquartered in Di Su Commune, My Hao District, Hung Yen Province, Viet Nam.

The distribution and implementation are led by the Sustainability Investment Promotion and Development Joint Stock Company (SIPCO), a developer dedicated to promoting climate action through high-quality carbon projects. By replacing traditional, fuel-intensive methods of purifying drinking water, the Ecozen-25 units eliminate the need for boiling water using wood or other biomass, significantly lowering carbon emissions while protecting local forests.

Beyond climate benefits, the project has strong social and health impacts. Access to safe drinking water reduces the prevalence of waterborne diseases, lessens household reliance on firewood collection, and improves daily living conditions. Communities participating in the program benefit from cleaner air, healthier environments, and more time for productive and educational activities.

Phase 2 of this grouped project builds upon earlier successes, expanding the scale and impact of sustainable water purification initiatives across Viet Nam. It showcases how innovation and carbon finance can work hand in hand to foster resilience, environmental protection, and improved quality of life.
