Public announcement on Grouped projects for water purifiers for climate and community action (VCS project ID 2557)

The Grouped Projects for Water Purifiers for Climate and Community Action (VCS Project ID 2557) is a community-based climate initiative that tackles greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while improving access to safe drinking water for households and institutions in Viet Nam.

Under this project, carbon credits may be issued through the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) for verified emission reductions and removals associated with the deployment of Ecozen-25 water purifiers. These purifiers are manufactured by Viet Charcoal Production Company Limited, located in Di Su Commune, My Hao District, Hung Yen Province, Viet Nam, and are distributed by the Sustainability Investment Promotion and Development Joint Stock Company (SIPCO).

By replacing the need to boil water using firewood, charcoal, or other non-renewable fuels, the Ecozen-25 purifiers significantly reduce carbon emissions, alleviate pressure on local forests, and improve indoor air quality. This transition not only contributes to Viet Nam’s climate goals but also provides lasting environmental benefits.

Beyond reducing emissions, the project has direct social and health impacts. Households gain access to reliable, clean drinking water, helping to prevent waterborne diseases and improve public health. Families also benefit from reduced time and financial costs associated with collecting or purchasing fuel, freeing up resources for education, livelihoods, and community development.
